Activision’s decision to release ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ on Wii took many people by surprise. Yet some are now disappointed that ‘Modern Warfare 2′ has no such plans in the offing.

However it is not a lost cause totally. When Activision saw the benefits of releasing Modern Warfare on Wii, they went ahead and did it. What probably affected their decision was the popularity of two previous ‘Call of Duty’ games on the Wii.

Similarly if ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ on Wii does good in sales, there is a good possibility that ‘Modern Warfare 2′ will come out on Wii as well. Also, ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ is being planned to be released in November.

The company also seems to be playing with the names of the games. Initially ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2′ was just ‘Modern Warfare 2′. The company reattached the title with the name after finding out that the two together created a positive shift towards the purchase of the game.

One more game to be released in November will be ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Mobilized’ for the Nintendo DS. Developed by n-space, the game has a single player storyline. It will also have features like survival mode, arcade mode and a six-player online multiplayer system.

The release of Modern Warfare on Wii is a happy development for many fans. The lovers of ‘call of Duty’ franchise keep hoping for more and more from the stable on Wii. However since titles like ‘Mad world’ and ‘the Conduit’ haven’t sold well, one can only hope that ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ does well on Wii.
