DSI lite – a serious competitor against DSI?
The controversy over removing backwards DSi’s compatibility with GameBoy Advance took a good amount of time to die out. Whether the compatibility with DSi’s hardware was the real issue is of great significance. This is because the DS Lite can actually play those same games which the DSi was unable to do.
This has created a situation where Nintendo has ended up creating a rivalry within its own different models. So far Nintendo’s handhelds always came with a backward compatibility. There was never a question of making a difficult decision about which one to buy. Now things look set to change.

DSi lite has now created that deciding factor which many people will take into consideration. The choice will be between having backward compatibility with GameBoy Advance (with DSi lite) or not (with DSi). Of course let’s not forget that DSi comes with all the features.
You also have the option of buying a used GameBoy Advance online. Yet you must consider that it may be inconvenient to carry around the portables which come along with it.
News has it that, DSi sales have been good in the first two months while DSi lite is still trying to take off. Some may think what the big deal is, but if you consider the number of people who can’t play GameBoy Advance just because they don’t have the slot, it may seem something.
All this may suggest rightly that may be it is time for DSi to slash its price. It could be one factor that may let someone decide in favor or against one of the two. However with DSi doing too well for itself presently, it is unlikely that Nintendo will cut its price.
