Nintendo Wii – A Life Changing Device
The release of the Nintendo Wii in 2006 gave the public a different look to gaming. It is a compact, glossy console that is unique to other consoles. The one trait the Wii had pressed on to the public must be its wireless remote; this is only one of its many features. The Wii is adaptable, therefore, doesn’t border its use to simply games. If an SD card loaded with pictures is to be inserted, the Wii is able to view and edit the pictures. It also, like other consoles gives internet access.

To be able to play the Wii successfully, it needs two remotes called: the Wiimote and Nunchuck. These are used to play the games with angles, gestures that are needed for game. The other consoles had also tried this approach, but failing because of the lack of support. The console comes with 512 MB memory which is enough for game saves, but if there will be a need for more space, another SD card can be the answer.
The Wii is like other gaming consoles out there with a broad selection of games that satisfies preferences of the gamers, and maybe provide even more. Contrary to popular belief, the Wii does not only reach the two distinct target markets (Hardcore and Casual), but also many others. The convenience of having motion control enhancement gives the most interactive feel to the gamer that connects the user to the game. Player 1 will be active on the other side, while the other players go on about their own movement to win, with or against the others. The next is to portray battery life. Gamers that prefer groups and interactive games are those people that will benefit greatly, with the in-depth experience of the Wii.

Another instalment to the Wii is the Mii characters in the game. The Miis are the gamers’ character that is used to play against other Miis of their friends. The Mii is the gamer in cyber form, therefore illustrating the personalize experience. Mii also grows; the improvement of the player can be seen through the level of his or her Mii. Furthermore, the access to the internet allows the gamers to play the popular games that are found in the net on the Wii immediately. Since the Wii Internet Channel is optimized in the console, it requires no downloads!
The Wii is not only for the audience wanting leisure. Physical therapist had discovered Wii as a tool for rehabilitating strokes, broken bones, surgery and injuries. In USA Today, physical therapists had said that the motion required in Wii games are parallel to traditional physical therapy, but the patient’s involvement of the game doesn’t require forcing. Movement games like Dance Dance Revolution is established as a great way to exercise and lose weight, the Wiimote widens the types of playable games, and therefore widens range of players. The downside of the Wii is that in application to serious games, like RPG it proves to be under average.
