‘Wii Sports Resort’ is a big hit. This is not what we are saying as reviewers but this is what the preliminary sales numbers of the game suggest. This was the first big Wii game to be released in this year and saw a big opening in Europe and America where it was launched recently.

With nearly 1.5 million copies already sold, ‘Wii Sports Resort’, has the fourth biggest opening ever for a Wii game. This follows games like Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit. The new game is touted to be a strong seller even for the rest of the year. With the new game, the hardware part of the same also saw a small bump. But it is likely to be more popular among people who already have a Wii. So that effect will be relatively short term.

The long term success of the game will of course take a longer time to evaluate but if the opening numbers are anything to go by, it will certainly be one of the most successful games from the Wii lot.
